Gather round. Play anywhere.
A free virtual tabletop that runs in your browser. Share maps, move tokens, hide the dark corners, roll dice and talk to your table, with nothing to install.

Everything a table needs
Shared maps
Build scenes from a map picture, snap to a grid, and push your players from one scene to the next. Hide what they should not see yet with fog of war.
Tokens that behave
Move, resize and rotate tokens, track hit points and conditions, and keep hidden monsters hidden until the moment you reveal them.
Dice, chat and whispers
Roll from the chat, whisper to one player, keep a log of what happened, and run initiative with a turn tracker everyone can see.
Voice chat built in
Talk to your table in the same window. Players join with one button, and voice goes straight between players: the app does not record it.
Characters in minutes
A guided character creator and full character sheets for fifth edition (5E) games, with the open SRD spells and equipment lists included.
Ready-to-run adventures
Start a game from an included adventure: maps, room notes and monsters laid out for you. Or bring your own and use our blank game.

An honest note about the test
Tales Around the Fire is a small independent project, and we are still building it. If you join now:
- It is free during the test, and invite-only.
- Expect rough edges, and tell us what you find: there is a Feedback button in the app.
- Your games may be reset while we build, so keep your own copy of anything important (a game can be exported to a file).
- It is in English and for ages 16 and over.
- It works best on a computer. A phone-friendly layout is on our list.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes, while the test lasts. We will say clearly, ahead of time, if that ever changes.
Which games does it support?
It is built for fifth edition (5E) style games and includes a character creator and the open SRD 5.1 spell and equipment lists. You can also start a game with no rules system and use the maps, tokens, dice and chat for any game you like.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in a current web browser. Voice chat asks for your microphone only when you press Join Voice.
Who can see my game?
Only the people you add to it. What you write in a game is stored on our server so the game can be saved; see our Privacy Policy for the details.
Can I bring my own maps?
Yes. Upload a map picture, and the scene builder can cut one big map into several scenes. Only upload things you have the right to use.
